John LeRoy Coffman III

John L. Coffman, 80, of Sandusky, passed away late Monday afternoon, May 25, 2020, at the Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky.
   Born on October 28, 1939, in Sandusky, OH the son of John LeRoy and Ruth (Steffan) Coffman, Jr..  He was a 1957 graduate of Sandusky High School.  John had served honorably in the U.S. Air Force for 8 years during the Vietnam era.
   He was a proud electrician, having worked for 34 years out of the I.B.E.W. Local # 867 and Local # 129 before retiring.
  John loved to follow his grandsons when they were involved in sports and he was a huge fan of the Cleveland Browns and the Cleveland Indians.
   He is survived by two daughters, Andrea Coffman-Diemert and Paige Doster, both of Sandusky; four grandchildren, Jamie (Chris) Szulc, Daniel, Jessie and David Doster; two great-grandchildren, Elsie and Foster; his two sisters, Peggy Carney and April Prentice; and numerous nieces and nephews.
   John was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 53 years, Arlene M. (Whorff) Coffman (2014); his son-in-law, Patrick J. Diemert; his brother and sister-in-law, Dale (Elizabeth "Betsy") Coffman; a niece, Adry'an Hall; and his nephew, Derek Carney.
   It was John's wish to be cremated.  Due to the current Coronavirus pandemic health restrictions, the funeral services will be private.
   The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in his memory to the Alzheimer's - Erie Shores, Northwest Ohio, 480 W. Dussel Drive, Suite 150, Maumee, OH 43537 or to one's favorite charity.
