Joan Dolores (Bretz) Sartor

 Joan D. (Bretz) Sartor, 82, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully early Tuesday afternoon, May 16, 2023, at the Parkvue Health Care Center, Sandusky, after an illness.

   Born on February 25, 1941, in Sandusky, OH the daughter of Frederick and Mildred (Bechstein) Bretz.  She was a 1959 graduate of St. Mary's High School.  Joan had worked at the "Fashion Bug" as a sales assistant for nearly 20 years, before retiring.  She will be remembered by her family for how she enjoyed gardening, but especially for how she loved her crafts and the holiday seasons, especially Christmas.

   Joan was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.

   She is survived by her family, Gerald R. "JR" Sartor of Sandusky, Jacquelyn (Carlos) Reyes of Maumee, and Lorenz (Lynnette) Sartor of Wooster; her grandson, Matthias (Katlin Zarella) Sartor; her three great-grandchildren, the twins, Aiden and Azaria and Jaina Sartor; and her nieces and nephews.

   Joan was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gerald F. "Jerry" Sartor (2013); two sisters, Marilyn J. Snyder and Bernice Cecil; and her two brothers, Richard and Donald Bretz.

   Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, from 4 - 8 pm at the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.  Prayers will be recited Wednesday morning, May 24, 2023, at 9:40 am at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.  Fr. Monte Hoyles officiating.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.
