Janice Elizabeth (Fick) Skaar

Janice E. (Fick) Skaar, 85, of Sandusky, passed away early Friday morning, October 18, 2024, at her home after a brief illness.

   Born on March 29, 1939, in Port Clinton, OH the daughter of Vernon and Thelma (Caris) Fick.   She was a graduate of  Waite High School in Toledo, OH.  Janice had worked for over 30 years at the Ohio Veterans Home in Medical Records before retiring.   Over the years, she had enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family and the grandchildren.  In her earlier days she had been an airline stewardess and had done some modeling.

   Janice is survived by her three daughters, Doree (Donald) Dickman of Sandusky, Angelique Frazier of Cleveland, Heights, and Yvonne Alexander of Cleveland, TN; her twelve grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jodi (Paul) Harper of Port Clinton and Patricia Hall of Swanton, OH; two brothers, Rick "Scooter" Howell of Port Clinton, OH and Shane Fick of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

   She was preceded in death by her parents. 

   At her request cremation has taken place.  The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 27, 2024,  4-7 pm at the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, OH.  Funeral services will be held Monday morning, October 28, 2024 at 11 am at the funeral home, Rev. Wally Gilbert officiating. 

  The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in her memory to one's favorite charity.
