March 18, 1934 ~ December 13, 2020 (age 86) 86 Years Old

James Dee Obituary

   James C. "Jimmy" Dee, 86, of Perkins Township, OH passed away peacefully late Sunday afternoon, December 13, 2020, at Mercy New Life Hospice, in Lorain, OH after a brief illness.  
  A lifelong native of Perkins Township, he was born on March 18, 1934, the son of August Joseph "Auggie" and Gertrude Evelyn "Gertie" (Denslow) Dee.  He was a graduate of Sandusky High School Class of 1954, and quickly enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. after graduation.  Jimmy was a volunteer fireman with Perkins Township.  He was the first Police Chief Constable of Perkins Township from 1958 to 1967.  During the 1970's thru the 90's he served as Perkins Township Trustee for a total of 3 terms, and was a board member of the Erie County Commissioners for one term.  He retired from the Ford Motor Company after working over 30 years.  He formed and was the Commandant Marine Corps. League Firelands Detachment # 1192.   Over the years, Jimmy competed in the National Shooting Matches at Camp Perry for many years earning multiple top Sharpshooter awards.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
   He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, the "Marines Forever," the AMVETS Post # 17, the American Legion Post # 83 and a lifetime member of the Erie County Conservation League.
   Jimmy is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Ann (Pulizzi) Dee; his 4 sons, Anthony of Sandusky, James (Marti) of Angola, IN, Tim of Sandusky and Brian (Beth) Dee of Vermilion; 3 granddaughters, Devan, Maria and Gabriella and 2 grandsons, Michael and Brendan; a brother, Ronald (Barbara) Dee of Norwalk.
   He was preceded in death by his parents.
   Visitation will be held on Friday, December 18, 2020, from 4-6 pm at the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, OH.  Due to the COVID-19 health concerns, wearing of face masks (they will be offered) and social distancing will be mandatory.  If you are uneasy about attending, please feel free to leave a message to the family on our website.   Prayers will be recited Saturday morning, December 19, 2020, at 9:40 am at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.  Fr. Chris Jesudhason officiating.   Military honors will be conducted by the "Marines Forever."   Following the service cremation will take place.  Burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery at a later date.
