Gloria Lou (Probel) Hoelzer

Gloria L. (Probel) Hoelzer, 85, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully amongst her family early Friday morning, September 30, 2022, at the Willows at Bellevue, in Bellevue, OH.

   Born on January 4, 1937, in Port Clinton, OH the daughter of Harold W. and Elizabeth C. "Betty" (Duffert) Probel.  Gloria was a 1955 graduate of Port Clinton High School.  Gloria had worked as a secretary for nearly 40 years for the Perkins Schools System, before retiring.  She was an avid sports fan and loved attending her grandchildren’s sporting events.  She was a big time fan of The Ohio State University Buckeyes and a true fan of all the Cleveland sports teams (Indians, Browns and Cavaliers).  Gloria will be remembered by her family for how she made lifelong friends and acquaintances everywhere she went and within the different groups that she was involved with over the years, like at Stein Hospice which she truly enjoyed.  She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.

   Gloria is survived by two sons, Joel (Patty) Hoelzer of Lewis Center, OH and Daniel (Jackie) Hoelzer of Sandusky; her five grandchildren, Brian (Katie) Widdoes, Jordan (Riley) Hoelzer, Brad (Erin) Widdoes, Jenna Hoelzer and Madisson Hoelzer; five great-grandchildren, Emma, Dean, Rhett, Henry and Ellie; her sister, Carolyn Flury of Cincinnati; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and her many close friends.

   She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 59 years, John L. Hoelzer (2014); and her daughter and son-in-law, Louann and Bob Widdoes (2014). 

   Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2022, from 4-8 pm at the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, and on Friday morning, October 7, 2022, from 10 am until time of the funeral services at 11 am at Zion Lutheran Church, 503 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.  Deacon Carolyn Steinfeldt officiating.  Entombment will be in the Meadow Green Cemetery Mausoleum, Huron, OH.
