Frank G. "Jerry" Fantozzi, 83, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully late Monday afternoon, October 28, 2019, surrounded by his family at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, Sandusky.
Born on April 13, 1936, in Huron, OH the son of Frank Patsy and Laura Marie (Capocci) Fantozzi. He was a 1954 graduate of Huron High School. Jerry was a veteran having served honorably in the U.S. Army. After being discharged from the service, he went to school and served his plumbing apprenticeship while with Wilkes Plumbing and Heating. Jerry later went on work at the Lorain Ford Motor Company for over 30 years, retiring on May 1, 1991. After retiring, he worked for Hohler Sheet Metal for many years.
Jerry enjoyed working with his hands, either fixing things or working on building projects. He especially loved his family and the church , they both were the most important thing to him. He also found comfort in helping others and in years past volunteering at Providence Hospital.
He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, where he had ushered for many years; a member of the Kiwanis Club of Sandusky Bay, member of AMVETS Post #17, and the Knights of Columbus Council # 546.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 56 years, Anna M. (Mariotti) Fantozzi, whom he married on October 19, 1963; his son, Jeff (Bonnie) Fantozzi of Sandusky; a daughter, Maria (Tygh) Tone of Huron; his four grandchildren, Morgan and Harrison Tone, Jerry and Jacob Fantozzi; his four brothers, Anthony, Angelo (Olga), Gene (Kathy) and Joe (Diane) Fantozzi; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his mother-in-law, Angelina Mariotti.
At his request, private family visitation will be held. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Jerry on Saturday morning, November 2, 2019, at 10 am at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Fr. Chris Jesudhason and Fr. Frank Kehres officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky. Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post # 83 Color Guard.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in his memory to Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, OH 44870 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
Arrangements are entrusted to the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.
