Frank M Krause, 92, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family early Tuesday morning, September 29, 2020, at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, Sandusky, after a brief illness.
Born on August 12, 1928 in Sandusky, OH the son of Frank T. and Gertrude H. (Karcher) Krause. He was a 1946 graduate of Sandusky High School. Frank was a veteran, having served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War with the 1st CAV Division. He continued to serve in the Army Reserves for a total of 36 years in active and reserve duty, until 1988. Frank worked at the Philco Corp. before becoming a Loan Officer for the Western Security Bank and later for Firelands Bank for 30 years, retiring in 1986.
In his earlier days, Frank volunteered at Serving Our Seniors, where he helped deliver "Meals on Wheels." He also enjoyed gardening, fishing, playing cards and spending time with his family. But he will be remembered by his family and others as "Frank the Tank" who just loved to socialize with others at the different local clubs he belonged.
He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus (Fourth Degree), the Sandusky Yacht Club, a life member of the I.A.B. Club, the V.F.W. and AMVETS; he also was a member of the American Legion, Catholic War Veterans, Korean War Veterans Association, the Huron Lions Club (former Charter member), and the Sandusky Eagles.
Frank is survived by his wife of 66 years and this Saturday would have been 67 years, Antonina "Nina" (Oddo) Krause whom he married on October 3, 1953; three daughters, Rita (Jack) Baus, Mary (Daryel) Sternberg and Linda (Gus) Corso; and a son, Frank A. (Liz) Krause; four grandchildren, John Baus, Andrea (Tim) Halstead, Mariella (Ian) Ramaley and Giovanni (Jackie) Spadaro, and also Jordan, Melissa, Chad, Brad and Holly; ten great-grandchildren, John Michael, Addy, Alivia, Isabella "Izzy", Alaina, Milania, Gianna, Siena, Sal and Zoe.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Thomas Krause; and an aunt, Sister Clara Karcher.
It was Frank's wish to have his body donated to the Medical College of Ohio, Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology, in Toledo, OH.
At the request of the family, a private Memorial Mass will be held. Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum, Sandusky.

The Krause family would like to thank the ER Staff and the wonderful staff on the third floor at Firelands Hospital for the comforting and loving care that they had shown their father and the family during this difficult time.
