Emma Marinello, 96, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, May 17, 2022, at the Portland Place, in Sandusky.
Born on November 25, 1925, in Sandusky, OH the daughter of Natale and Josephine (Mazzorana) Marinello. She was a 1943 graduate of Sandusky High School. In her earlier days, she worked as a switchboard operator at the Ohio Bell Telephone Company and later at New Departure-Hyatt Inc.. She went on to work at the Scott Paper Company, in the Quality Control Lab, for many years before retiring in 1982.
Over the years, Emma enjoyed motorcycle rallies, car races and attending concerts, but she especially loved nature. Known as a great walker, she enjoyed taking long walks, taking in her surroundings on park trails and other comforting locations. Emma was also known to her family as a "World Traveler", having traveled abroad to places in Europe and a variety of locations in the United States and beyond. Considered the "Family Historian," she had a large collection of photo albums and documents following the family genealogy through time.
Emma was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church where she volunteered her time for different functions and also, over the years, volunteered at Serving Our Seniors and Care and Share.
She is survived by a sister, Lenore Wagner of Columbus; and many nieces and nephews.
Emma was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Catherine Myers, Mary DaGiau and Lera Zimmerman; and her brothers, Sirio and Elio Marinello.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2022, from 4-6 pm at the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. A funeral service will be held Friday morning, May 27, 2022, at 10 am at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Deacon Phil Dinovo officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Sandusky.
