Eleanor May (Schey-Oakleaf) Pasqualini, 99, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2026.
She was born in Napoleon, Ohio, on May 24, 1927, the youngest child of William and Mabel (Kratzer) Schey. She was raised on the family farm in Leipsic, Ohio, graduated from Leipsic High School and attended Bowling Green State University for two years. She married Nicholas Pasqualini on May 2, 1959, in Sandusky, Ohio.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sandusky. She and Nick were avid boaters and fishing companions the entirety of their marriage. She was a former longtime Board member and volunteer for the Humane Society of Erie County. She was an animal lover, especially horses, and was an accomplished horsewoman. She always wanted to have horses, but ended up with six children instead !
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Nick; six children, Sandra (Denny) Binkley of Castalia, Larry (Cathy) Oakleaf of Collins, Linda (Paul) Novosel of Waite Hill, Nancy (Brad) Pollman of Stevensville, MT, Diana (Mike) Kenne of DeGraff, and Liane (Chuck) Hiss of Sandusky; 10 grandchildren, Brett (Eileen) Collins, Lacy and Dane Novosel, Ivy (Connor) Dunn, Nick (Nell) Pollman, Kelsey (Jake) Rose, Danielle (Sean) O'Neill, Mikaela (Nick) McMahan, Miranda (Dave) Reinhard, and Zachary (Tori) Hiss; two step-grandchildren, David (Gloria) Hunscke and Amy Hunscke; 10 great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Eldon "Ben" Oakleaf; a sister, Marguerite Sandrock; and a brother, Kenneth Schey.
It was her wish to be cremated. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 12, 2026, from 4-7 pm at the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, OH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Eleanor on Monday morning, July 13, 2026, at 10 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Avenue, Sandusky, OH. Fr. Chris Turner officiating. Interment will be held at a later date in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her name to the Humane Society of Erie County, 1911 Superior Street, Sandusky, OH 44870; St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Avenue, Sandusky, OH 44870; the Erie County Senior Center, 620 E. Water Street, Sandusky, OH 44870; Serving Our Seniors, 310 E. Boalt Street, Sandusky, OH 44870 or to one's favorite charity.
