Elaine Dorothy (Michel) Harrington Obituary
With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of our beloved Elaine D. Harrington, 84 of Sandusky. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, peacefully early Thursday morning, June 4, 2026, with her family at her side in the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky. She leaves behind a legacy of unwavering faith, unconditional love, and selfless compassion.
She was born on November 24, 1941, in Sandusky, OH the daughter of Joseph Carl and Mabel Theresa (Biglin) Michel. Elaine was a 1959 graduate of St. Mary's High School. In her earlier days, she had worked at Memorial Hospital. She had a long career at Sears and Roebuck where she started out as a PBX operator.
Elaine was a woman of deep faith who was a devoted member of the St Mary’s Church choir, sharing her love of God through music and fellowship. She trusted the Lord through every season of life. Her relationship with Christ was the foundation of who she was, and she faithfully shared His love through both her words and actions. She found comfort and strength in God’s promises and lived each day with grace, kindness, and hope.
Nothing brought her greater joy than her family, especially her grandchildren. She cherished every moment spent with them, celebrating their accomplishments, praying for them faithfully, and showering them with endless love. Her grandchildren knew they were treasured beyond measure, and the memories they shared with her will remain in their hearts forever.
She also had a special heart for those in need. Whether through a helping hand, a warm meal, a listening ear, or quiet acts of generosity, she consistently put others before herself. She dedicated countless hours serving her community as a Heartbeat volunteer, offering support, encouragement, and compassion to those facing difficult circumstances. Her compassion touched countless lives and reflected the love of Christ she carried so faithfully.
Her commitment to helping young people succeed was evident throughout her professional life. Elaine was recognized by the Ohio Department of Education for her exemplary efforts with EHOVE Marketing Education and General Merchandising students. She took great pride in mentoring and encouraging young people, helping them develop the skills and confidence needed to pursue their futures.
Though our hearts ache in her absence, we rejoice in knowing that she is now at peace in Heaven, reunited with loved ones and in the presence of her Savior. Her faith has become sight, and her legacy of love, kindness, and devotion will continue to inspire all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, William J. "Bill" Harrington; her three sons, Pat, Tom (Amy) and Tim Harrington; her five grandchildren, Brittany, Patrick, David, Ashley, and Will; her seven great-grandchildren, Rylan “Aleks”, Aliyah, Brynnleigh, Charley, Henry, Julian and Louis; two sisters, Pat Wobser and Angel (John) Fox; a brother, Miles (Kathy) McGuffin; several nieces and nephews; her companion and buddy, her dog, "Teddy” and many friends who were blessed by her life.
