Edward Faetanini Obituary

Edward Joseph Faetanini, 87, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully early Thursday evening, February 27, 2020, at the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.
   He was born on March 16, 1932, on Kelleys Island, the son of Sebastian and Prima Dena (Garavelli) Faetanini.
   Edward  attended the seminary for a short while in his youth before deciding on joining the U.S. Navy.  He proudly served as a Boiler Attendant on the Aircraft Carrier the USS Philippine Sea during the Korean War.  He held many jobs throughout his long life and learned many skills.  He retired in 1991 from New Departure-Hyatt Inc., (a Division of General Motors), where he was a Machine Repairman.
   Edward was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and spent many years singing in the church choir.  He was a member of the IAB Club and loved to play Bocci league.  He was a member of a bowling league with his wife, Esther, after retiring.  Ed loved to do woodworking and enjoyed making items for his family and the church.  His vast knowledge allowed him to fix anything that was brought to him.
   Edward is survived by ten children, Steven (Julie), David (Kay), Edward (Cathy), William (Kim), Robert (Cheryl), Linda (Matt) Bickley, John (Erin), Jim (Sarah), Brenda Dubbert, Thomas (Tanya); his grandchildren, Christina, Andrea, Nicholas, Lisa (Paul) Danos, Lauren (Shane) McMullen, Kelly (Clint) Mehall, Laura Fedele, Heidi (Brad) Gangel, Mark (Sarah), Hannah (Isaac) Pajo-Bickley, Jenna (Tony) Reeves, Daniel, Salvatore, Gia, Joseph, Ross, John, Dominic, Sebastian, Nicholas (Elizabeth) Cross, Keith (Kim) Price, Jessica (Bryan) Taylor, Kailey Vanscoder, and Bryce Vanscoder; his great-grandchildren, Westly, Austin, Livia, Marcus, Tre, Michael, Connor, Cameron, James, Blake, Lottie, Lily, Logan, Jackson, Ryleigh, Kane, Nova and Elayna; a niece, Palma Grosswiler; and his nephew, Marino Cesarini.
   In addition to his parents, Edward was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Esther (Shelley), whom he married on August 29, 1953; an infant son, Gary; an infant daughter, Shelley; a grandson, Benjamin Faetanini; a son-in-law, Christopher Dubbert; his sister, Maria Cesarini and her husband Ermen Cesarini;
   Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2020, from 4-7 pm at the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.  Prayers will be recited Friday morning, March 6, 2020, at 9:40 am at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.  Fr. Monte Hoyles officiating.  Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron, OH.  Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #83 Color Guard.
   The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, OH 44870 or to Stein Hospice Service, Inc., 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870.
