Dennis Bird Obituary

Dennis A. Bird, 64, of Sandusky, who passed away on Sunday afternoon, July 18, 2021.  He was a loving husband, father and papa.
Born on August 23, 1956, in Buffalo, NY, the son of Howard C. and Norma Jean (Haynes) Bird, Sr..  He was raised in N. Java, NY and later moved to Hollywood, FL in 1973.  Dennis was a 1974 graduate of Nowlin Ocean View High School, in Hollywood, and was the Class Salutatorian.
Dennis spent a lifetime in the construction field, starting with his father's business in up-state New York, then moving with his parents and brothers to Hollywood, FL, to manage the Gallahad Condominiums.  He moved to Sandusky, OH in 1982, where he started Bird Construction, operating through 1990 and again with his own sons, from 2006 to 2021.  From 1990 - 2006, Dennis had employment as an Estimator Project Manager for Telemon Construction, Don Muls (Strongsville) and Horner Construction.  He worked on many large projects throughout the area and surrounding counties, such as the renovation of the Chesapeake Lofts, Parkview Nursing Home, and the Harbor Condo's, to mention only a few.  His greatest pride was passing on the trade and hard work ethics to his sons, he was a "Jack Of All Trades," and a master of many.
Over the years, Dennis enjoyed and took great pride in being a dad and coach to our sons, starting with biddy wrestling, youth baseball, flag-football and throughout their high school years.  There wasn't a match, meet or game too far away for traveling.  He was a buffalo Bill fan for a lifetime and a fan of the Buckeyes and the Indians.  Caring deeply for his family and friends, he enjoyed spending time with them, Especially when doing some of the hobbies he had like; boating, fishing, camping, golf, deer hunting, in southern Ohio, and snowmobiling.  Dennis was always up for the challenge of a fair game of pool, a good game of horseshoes, cornhole, a great joke, or even better, a prank.  He loved ALL music, blew the harmonica, tickled the ivories and sang a beautiful tune.
Dennis is survived by his wife of 35 years, Vicki (Esposito) Bird, whom he married on December 19, 1985; his three sons, Dennis, Jr., Brett (Jessica), and Ross Bird; his eight grandchildren, Carter and Hope Bird, Danae Collins, Madison and Landon Bird, Caleb, Jaxson and Jaeylen Bird;  a brother, Steve (Ruth) Bird; and two aunts, Naomi (Bird) Limbrunner and Peggy Bird; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Howard C. Bird, Jr.; both paternal and maternal grandparents; and several uncles, aunts and cousins.
