Dennie Ray Hall, 72, of Huron, OH passed away peacefully late Saturday evening, April 26, 2025, in the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born on August 12, 1952, in Middletown, OH, the son of Dennie Ray and Louise Elizabeth (Fulks) Hall. He was a 1970 graduate of Margaretta High School. For many years, Dennie had been a truck driver, holding a Class A CDL license and had driven for several local companies, before retiring.
He was bigger than life, a great friend to all and he had a strong faith in God. But his family will especially remember him as a very talented big-time musician, having played in several local area bands since the age of 12. Dennie had been a lead singer, guitarist, harmonica and bass player. His moment of fame was in the 70's, when he toured with Bob Seger, as a member of the warmup band, "Cold Sweat."
Dennie loved spending time with his family and grandchildren (all of whom he loved dearly), going to the Cedar Point Amusement Park and sitting down by the Huron Lighthouse with his wife. He was also fond of his Triumph sports car.
Over the years, Dennie had been active in raising funds for a variety of local benefits. Including "Scott's Margaretta School Fund," which was a tribute to Scott Gast, which helped raise funds for school music programs.
Dennie is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Bencivengo Hall; his daughters, Heidi (Steve) Emmons, Heather (John) Hoelzer, Angela (John) Norman and Cassie (Mark Munger, Jr.) Bencivengo; his grandchildren, Alex and Austin (Kaitlyn) Emmons, Nina (Max) King, Blane Hoelzer, Delaney and Flynn Norman and Gracie Carpenter; two great-grandchildren, Romeo and Valentina King; three sisters, his twin, Debbie (Bill) Ray, Linda (Randy) Roth and Jeanie Cales-Gunter; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother in infancy; and in-laws Joe and Victoria Bencivengo.
It was his wish to be cremated and be buried with his father. A private family graveside service will be held in Sand Hill Cemetery, Sandusky. Rev. Donald Spurlock of First Christian Church will officiate. A "Celebration of Dennie's Life" will be held at a later date this summer.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in his name to Stein Hospice Service, Inc., 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870 or to one's favorite charity, especially music related.
The family would like to offer a very special thank you to the nurses at Stein Hospice, especially Melissa, Lori, Dawn and Mike, for the patience and loving care that they had shown to Dennie and the family during this difficult time.
Arrangements are entrusted to the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, OH.
