Delton F. "Del" Slauterbeck, Sr., 92, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully late Tuesday morning, August 19, 2025, with family at his side, at the Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky.
Born on July 14, 1933, in Port Clinton, OH the son of Ralph Delton and Phyllis Cecilia (Brenzo) Slauterbeck. He was a veteran having served honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. Del had worked for the Ford Motor Company for 35 years, retiring in 1990.
Over the years, he enjoyed spending time with the family and the grandchildren and going on trips, with his wife, Louise, as well as, he loved boating and fishing on the Lake..
He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church and the UAW Local # 1216.
Del is survived by three sons, Delton (Deanna) Slauterbeck, Jr., of Mansfield, Robert (Diana) Slauterbeck of Norwalk, and Steven (Roberta) Slauterbeck of Huron; his seven grandchildren, Joseph "Scottie", Nicholas, Ashlee, Taylor, Jeremy, Julia and Jacquelyn; 23 great-grandchildren and one on the way; and his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph D. Slauterbeck (1949), his mother, Phyllis C. (Brenzo) and stepfather, Irvin H. Van Berg; his wife of 65 years, Louise M. (Camara) Slauterbeck on February 11, 2020; a brother, Floyd Slauterbeck; and three sisters, Charlotte Keerps, Charmine Woods and Nalora.
Visitation will be held on Friday morning, August 22, 2025, from 10 am until time of the funeral services at 12 pm at the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, OH. Deacon Phil Dinovo officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post # 83 and the V.F.W. Post # 2529. Entombment will be in the Gallery of Cedars Mausoleum in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Ohio Veterans Home Activity Fund, 3416 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, OH 44870.
