Dean Arthur Ruemmele Obituary
Dean Arthur Ruemmele, age 101, of St. George, Utah, passed away May 21, 2026. He was preceded in death by his wife Juanita, his parents Anna and Arthur, and his sisters Carol and Rosemary.
He is survived by his five children, Debra of Dayton, Pam of St. George, Utah, Pat of North Las Vegas, Nevada, Dan of St. George, Utah and Bernard of Columbus, Ohio. Dean also leaves behind four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
During WW II, Dean served as a radioman on landing craft in the Pacific. Shortly after returning home, he married Juanita Opfer and they raised their five children in Sandusky, Ohio. Dean worked as a mail carrier in Sandusky and was known and loved by many folks along his route.
In his retirement years, Dean took up stained glass art and created many beautiful pieces that his family treasures. He also became a member of the choir in his home parish of St. Mary's, Sandusky, as he loved to sing and loved music. He was also fond of playing cards and he was extremely good at knowing which cards were played and which were still in other players' hands. Another one of his pastimes was playing pool and it is said he never lost a game, even when he was leaning on his walker in later years. One of Dean's best gifts was his ability to grow beautiful hybrid roses and great tomatoes. He passed his green thumb along to all his children.
Over the past thirteen years, Dean moved out West to be closer to his family living there, first to Las Vegas and later to Utah. He was a well-loved member of the retirement communities in which he resided.
