David A. Jones

 David A. Jones, 66, of Sandusky, passed away Friday morning, December 12, 2025, at Edgewood Manor Nursing Home, in Port Clinton, OH.  

   Born on August 20, 1959, in Columbus, OH the son of George Everett and Mary Katherine (Perkins) Jones.  He was a 1977 graduate of Brookhaven High School, in Columbus, OH and later received his Bachelor's (in Crimology) and his Master's Degree (in Business) from The Ohio State University, in Columbus, OH. 

   David was in law enforcement for several years retiring as the New Albany Police Chief and later became the general manager for the Sandusky Public Transit System.

   He was a member and officer in the Masonic Perseverance Lodge #329, the Scottish Rite and he was a 32nd Degree Mason.

   David is survived by his wife of 38 years, Barbara J. (Sekerak) Jones whom he married on August 29, 1987; his children, Noah Jones of Sandusky, Katherine Jones of Lancaster, and David Jones of Cary, SC; a stepdaughter, Amanda (Gary) Vanover; and his 11 grandchildren; Brooklynn, Alexander, Griffin, Isabella, Aiden, Jaxon, Wyatt, Carson, Elijah, David and Carter; and a niece and nephew. 

   He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Thomas Jones.

   It was his wish to be cremated.  The family will receive friends on Friday afternoon, December 19, 2025, from 1 pm until time of the funeral services at 2 pm at the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Services to be conducted by the Masonic Perserverance Lodge # 329 F. & A. M.

   In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in his memory to the Masonic Perserverance Lodge # 329, 304 Wayne Street, Sandusky, OH 44870.
