David Joseph McClure

David J. "Unkel Dave" McClure, 63, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully early Thursday morning, October 3, 2019,  with family at his side at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, Sandusky. 
   Born on March 11, 1956, in Cleveland, OH the son of David Bernard and Mary Kathryn (Dee) McClure.  Dave was a 1974 graduate of Campion Jesuit High School in Prairie Du Chien, WI.  He had served honorably in the U. S. Army for 20 years, retiring in 1995.  Over the years, he loved going fishing and playing golf, but he especially enjoyed spending time with with his family and his numerous nieces and nephews. 
   Dave was a life member of the V.F.W. Post # 2059 in San Antonio, TX and at the V.F.W. Post # 2529, in Sandusky; he also was a member of the N.R.A..  In 2001, he had received a certificate of recognition for his services as a member of the Memorial Services Detachment at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, as a member of the V.F.W. Post # 2059.
   Dave is survived by his wife of 42 years, Amy T. (Taylor) McClure; a son, Bryan T.(Tamica) McClure; and a daughter, Melissa L. (Desmond Noble) McClure, all of Sandusky; three grandchildren; his brothers and sisters, Kathy, John, Kevin, Margaret "Peggy", Dan, Mary, Joe and Mike; and numerous nieces and nephews.
   He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Ann; and other relatives.
   Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 6, 2019, from 4-7 pm at the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.  Private family services to be held.  Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post # 83 Color Guard. It was Dave's wish to be cremated following the funeral services.  Interment will be held at a later date in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, in Rittman, OH. 
   The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in his memory to one's favorite charity.
