David J Maiani Sr., 71, of Sandusky, passed away early Tuesday morning, August 29, 2023, at the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, OH surrounded by his loving family after a lengthy illness.
Born in Sandusky, Ohio on March 19, 1952, the son of John Dominic and Mary Alice (Cook) Maiani.
David attended Sandusky High School and graduated from Margaretta High School. He was in the marching band, where he excelled in music, and won awards at both schools. He continued his education at Bowling Green University, and Terra Tech.
David worked for Ohio Edison as an electrical draftsman, Ares in their Research & Development on government projects. Thereafter he worked for the Ford Motor Company, and retired as a journeyman electrician.
He was a professional musician whom played guitar and saxophone. In his spare time he loved fishing, boating, and watching movies with his friends and family.
David attended Holy Angles Catholic Church, was a member of the musician’s union, and in the UAW Local 1216 retirees.
He is survived by his wife, Anna (Staugh); Daughters, Cheri (Kramer) and Alicia (Matlock) Maiani; his sons, “DJ” David Jr. and Joe (Sarena); special nephew, Rob Ballman; his mother Alice Maiani and his sisters, Rose (Keith) Ott, Linda (Mike) Keith; a brother, John (Linda) Maiani; his in-laws, Betty Staugh and John (Lisa) Staugh; his two grandchildren, Ethan & Owen Matlock; followed by many nieces, and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his father, John D. Maiani; along with his in-laws, John & Betty Staugh; and his brother-in-law, William Lee Staugh.
The family will receive friends on Saturday morning, September 2, 2023 from 9 am until time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 428 Tiffin Avenue, Sandusky. Rev. Zachary Brown officiating. It was his wish to be cremated following the service.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in his name to Back To The Wild, P.O. Box 423, 4504 Bardshar Road, Castalia, OH 44824.
