David Bruce Appell

David B. Appell, 67, of Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly late Wednesday afternoon, February 15, 2023,  at his home.
   Born on March 18, 1955, in Sandusky, OH the son of Albert Owen "Sonny" and Mary Alice "Peach" (Pietschman) Appell.  He was a 1973 graduate of Sandusky High School and later attended Ohio Wesleyan College.  David worked in sales for many years before his retirement.  
   He was a true fan of all Cleveland sports, he loved the Browns, Cavaliers, Indians, and The Ohio State Buckeyes.  David enjoyed spending time with family and the grandchildren, especially at their place on Middle Bass Island and watching sunsets, outback, on "The Pad." 
   David was formerly a long time member of the IAB Club and Sandusky Orioles Club Nest # 279.
   He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Robin K. (McCoy) Appell; his children, Emily (Anthony) Vassallo, Benjamin Appell, both of Sandusky, and Kevin (Mackenzie) Appell of Lorain; his grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Savanna, Braden, Aislin, Lola, and Owen; a sister, Mary Alice McKone of Tempe, AZ: two brothers, Albert Appell of San Diego, CA and Billy (Susan) Appell of Columbus, OH; and his nieces and nephews.
   David was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Weston J. Vassallo; two brothers-in-law, Tony Dellisanti and Don McKone; and a niece, Molly Flowers.
   It was his wish to be cremated.  The family will receive friends on Friday February 24, 2023 from 4 - 7 pm at the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.  Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky. 
   The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in his name to his family.
