Craig R. Ahlers, 50, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully Friday evening, February 7, 2025 at his home from natural causes.
He was a 1992 graduate of Sandusky High School and employed in rides maintenance at Cedar Point Amusement Park for over 20 years.
Craig was a loving father and father figure to so many, including his nieces and nephews. He always enjoyed time with family, especially time with his children and grandchildren. Craig welcomed everyone into his home and loved a house full of fun and laughter. He always looked forward to warmer months to enjoy the outdoors with cookouts and swimming. Craig also enjoyed movie time with family and friends and watching all Ohio sport teams. Bowling leagues was a favorite activity and where he met the love of his life. Craig endured many challenges throughout his lifetime but showed an immense amount of strength through it all. He taught others to be strong and always extended a helping hand and caring heart to others.
Craig is survived by his mother, Suzann Ahlers; father, Richard Wigley; his three children, Courtney Cobern, Sadie Ahlers and Lucas Ahlers; two grandchildren, Makenna and SJ; a sister, Caryn (Jeff) Wagner; a niece, Ashley Ahlers, who he was to walk down the aisle to Gabrion Alexander this September; nephew, Sheyden Ahlers; great nephews, Akye, Cisco and Myles; his uncles, Steve, Tom, and Scott (Marlene) Ahlers; and multiple cousins.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Carrie Caudill; a stepson, Michael Cobern; maternal grandparents,
Edmund and Arlene Ahlers; paternal grandparents, Stan and Mable Plottner; and a niece, Tiyana Faith Ahlers.
It was his wish to be cremated. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Craig on Saturday morning, February 22, 2025 at 10 am at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 428 Tiffin Avenue, Sandusky. Fr. Prashanth Kumar officiating. Following the funeral service a "celebration of Craig's life" will be held at 11:30 am in the Parish Hall at Holy Angels Church, the family invites all relatives and friends to attend.
The family suggests that contributions may be made in his name to his children.
