Christopher James Kurtz

Christopher J. "Chris" Kurtz, 41, of Sandusky, passed away early Tuesday evening, January 25, 2022, at Firelands Regional Medical Center, after a brief illness.
          He was born on January 8, 1981, in Sandusky, to Jim & Debby Kurtz.  He was a 1999 graduate of Sandusky High School where he had been a member of the baseball team for four years.  Chris was a sheet metal worker by trade having worked in the Cleveland area for several years.  In his youth, he played baseball with the Amvets League and was coached by his father.  In his later years, he enjoyed spending time with his sister and cousins in Mohican, golfing and fishing with his dad, and rooting for his favorite team, the Chicago Bears.
          Chris was a wonderful father to his daughter Jordynn.  She was the light of his life.  They would watch movies together, play video games, and just hang out at home.  He was her protector here on Earth and will now continue to protect her as her guardian angel.
   Chris is survived by his daughter, Jordynn M. Kurtz; his parents, Jim and Debby Kurtz; a sister, Ashley (Chuck) Smith; his two nephews, David and Jaxson Smith; his dog, Harley; maternal Grandma, Charlene Brown, and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives.
   He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Denny and Norma Jean Kurtz; his maternal grandparents, Bob Brown, Pat and Frank Brannock; an uncle, Jack Thomas; and two other of his companions, his dogs, Casey and JoJo.
   It was his wish to be cremated.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, from 4-7 pm at the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.  A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at 11:00 am at Meadow Green Memorial Park Chapel, 2602 E. Bogart Road, Huron, OH.   Rev. Wally Gilbert officiating.  There will also be a memorial luncheon following the services on Wednesday at the Huron Pizza House, 812 S. Main Street, Huron, OH.  Everyone is welcomed to join the family.
   The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in his memory to the Humane Society of Erie County, 1911 Superior Street, Sandusky, OH 44870.
