Carolyn A. Rolsten, 90, of Norwalk, OH passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning, January 20, 2026, at the Commons of Providence Memory Care Center, in Sandusky, OH.
Born on October 27, 1935, in Norwalk, OH the daughter of Herbert Edward and Mary Magalaine (Steiner) Rolsten. She was a 1953 graduate of Norwalk High School and went on to graduate from the University of Michigan receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree and later her master's degree from Case Western Reserve. In her earlier days, she had worked at University Hospital in Cleveland, OH for a while before moving to Houston, TX where she had lived for over 45 years. She eventually became the Head of the Botany Department at the Houston Community College for nearly 20 years, retiring in 2001. Over the years she had also done research and taught, in the Field of Aging, at the MD Anderson Medical Center in Houston, TX.
In her younger days, she enjoyed being active and spent her time swimming, walking and even skiing throughout the years. She had been a member of the Westminster United Methodist Church.
Carolyn is survived by her brother, James Rolsten of Norwalk, OH; a niece, Susan Rolsten of Loretta, TN; a great-niece, Makenzie Rolsten of Norwalk, OH; a great-great niece and nephew; and her stepchildren from the Thaddeus Samoraski family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a nephew, Stephen M. Rolsten.
At her request cremation has taken place. She will be buried on her parent's grave in Woodlawn Cemetery, in Norwalk, OH.
The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Southern Care Hospice, 9501 Milan Road, Suite 2, Milan, OH 44846.
