Blaine M. Emmerick, 85, of Monroeville, passed away late Wednesday evening, June 6, 2018, at the Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky, after a lengthy illness.
Born on June 24, 1932, in Sandusky, the son of Manuel Emmerick and Genevieve Loretta (Mack) Dixon. Blaine was a 1950 graduate of Sandusky High School. He was a veteran, having served honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. Blaine worked for the Norfolk & Western Railroad for over 30 years in the office at the Bellevue Yard, before retiring.
He will be remembered by his family for never being on time. His life was working on the railroad and then heading to the farm. Blaine loved raising and caring for all types of animals, from his dogs, to his horses, cows and pigs that he tended to, out on his farm. He enjoyed being outside and working on the computer.
Blaine is survived by two sisters, Darlene (Richard) Hackett of Delaware and Jeanine Boissoneault of Sandusky; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Elaine Emmerick and June Schweinfurth; and his brother, William "Bill" Emmerick.
A Graveside service will be held Thursday morning, June 14, 2018, at 11 am at the Meadow Green Memorial Park Chapel, 2602 E. Bogart Road, Huron. Rev. Charles Odom, of Stein Hospice, officiating. Entombment will follow the funeral services.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in his memory to one's favorite charity.
Arrangements are entrusted to the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.
