Betty L. (McConnell) Recupero, 92, of Sandusky, formerly of Riverview, FL, passed away early Friday afternoon, August 21, 2020, at Providence Care Center, Sandusky, after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease.
Born on September 28, 1927, in Republic, OH the daughter of Gust Esker and Arthena Lavern (Coffman) McConnell. She was a 1945 graduate of Thompson High School in Bellevue, OH. For many years, she had worked at the Bellevue and the Norwalk Kroger stores and later she had managed several restaurants in Florida, before retiring. Betty enjoyed bowling and had been a member of the Star Lanes Senior Bowling League for several years.
She had been a member of the Lighthouse Gospel Mission in Riverview, FL.
She is survived by her children, Duane (Darlene) Leininger of Goodyear, AZ, Marlene (Robert) Burger of Winter Spring, FL, and Phyllis (Robert) Haas of Castalia; 8 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren: two sisters, Olive "Boots" Weller of Bellevue, Cleo "Jean" Wolfe of Tiffin; two brothers, Gus "Jeff" (Catherine) McConnell of Bellevue and John McConnell of Port Clinton, OH; and several nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Anthony J. Recupero (2005); two sisters, Mary Rospert (2012) and Dorothy Moyer; and a brother, Edward McConnell (2005).
It was Betty's wish to be cremated. The family will receive friends on Saturday afternoon, August 29, 2020, from 1 pm until time of the memorial service at 2 pm at the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Due to the COVID-19 health concerns, wearing of masks (they will be offered) and social distancing will be mandatory.
