Antoinette Camella Obituary

Antoinette "Toni" (Buiting) Camella, 97, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully early Friday evening, December 11, 2020, at the Parkvue Health Care Center, surrounded by family.
Born on July 27, 1923 in Kray, Germany, the daughter of Bernard and Anna (Sprink) Buiting.  In April 1926, at a young age, her family immigrated to the United States to Ellis Island from Germany.  From there, they resided in Vermilion and later moved to Sandusky where she graduated from Sandusky High School in 1941. She worked at the Ohio Bell Telephone Company as a telephone operator for nearly 15 years and later went on to work at Periodical Publishers Bureau for over 40 years, retiring in 2006.
She will be remembered and loved by her family as a great listener, she possessed a keen sense of hearing what you had to say and giving sage advice.  Also, she was very helpful to others, always willing to lend a helping hand. She enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren attending their various activities over the years. Grandma Toni will be remembered how she loved to bake, especially this time of year as she made her "Famous" Christmas cookies.  In years past, she and her husband, Frank, loved going downtown to the Gazebo in the park and listening to the Big Band sounds.   They also spent many nights, going out dancing or even roller skating together.  Toni also enjoyed playing cards over the years, and had been a member of a women’s pinochle club.
Toni was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church where her father, Bernard built the grotto giving tribute to the Virgin Mary, the Altar Rosary Society and the I.A.B. Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by Richard (Elvia) Camella of Stratford, CT and Ted (Ally) Camella of W. Melbourne, FL; her daughter, Janice (Gary) Trent of Sandusky; two daughters-in-law, Karen (Grahl) Camella of Bay View and Dianne (Ascani) Camella of Monroe, CT; eight grandchildren, Jill, Jolie, Kimberly, Christine, Marina, Brianna, Tanner and Connor; 12  great-grandchildren, Jenna, Joseph, Jacob, Thomas, Max, Brady, Luke, Mia, Jetton, Carson, Trent, and Kinley; and many nieces and nephews.
Toni was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 60 years, Frank J. Camella on March 27, 2006; a son, Thomas F. Camella in 1999; her step-mother, Clara Buiting; her two sisters, Anna Bonczek and Mary Moes; and her two brothers, Bernard and Heinz Buiting.
The family would like to thank the staff at Parkvue Place for the genuine loving care they gave to our mother over the past 3 years.  As well as the staff of Parkvue Health Care and Stein Hospice for this past week. This is just a reminder that angels are always around us.
Private family visitation to be held.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Toni on Thursday morning, December 17, 2020, at 10 am at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 428 Tiffin Avenue, Sandusky.  Fr. Zachary Brown officiating.  It was her wish to be cremated following the Mass.  Inurnment will be held later in Calvary Cemetery Columbarium, Sandusky.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to Holy Angels Catholic Church, 428 Tiffin Avenue, Sandusky, OH 44870 or to Stein Hospice Service, Inc., 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870.
