Anna Mae (Christiansen) Fitz

Anna Mae (Christiansen) Fitz, 96, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully late Friday morning, September 6, 2024, at the Providence Care Center, Sandusky.

   Born on March 29, 1928, in Port Clinton, OH the daughter of Herman and Henrietta (Grathwol) Christiansen.  She was a 1946 graduate of Sandusky High School.  Anna Mae had worked as a bookkeeper and cashier for several years at the A & P and later at the Cardinal Grocery Store, before retiring. In years past, she enjoyed camping, fishing and spending family time with her husband and  her family at their cabin. She also enjoyed playing cards and bingo.

   Anna Mae was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Vacationland Good Sam Camping Club, with her husband

   She is survived by her family, Mary Ann (Steve) Gove of North Royalton, Beverly J. Fitz of Lorain, Donald J. (Bette) Fitz of Northville, MI, Barbara L. Thomas of Somerset, PA, Thomas J. (Sheri) Fitz of Powell, Kenneth J. (Judy) Fitz of Grove City, Julie M. (David) Peck of Hilliard, OH; her 13 grandchildren, Michelle, Chris, Becky, Mike, Katherine, John, Ana-Lin, Stephanie, Tiffany, Jim, Sarah, Shannon, and Kevin; her 13 great-grandchildren, David, Alan, Austin, Riley, Blakely, Cali, Lucas, Jacob, Victor, Allison, Luke, Carrie, and Natalie; and her nieces and nephews.

   Anna Mae was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 58 years, John J. Fitz on September 2, 2006; a granddaughter, Christina Gotaas; and two sisters and four brothers.

   Visitation will be held on Friday morning, September 13, 2024, from 8:30 am until time of prayers at 9:30 am at the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.  A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Avenue, Sandusky.  Fr. Chris Turner officiating.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.
