Alice M. (Cook) Maiani, 93, of Bellevue, passed away peacefully early Friday morning, June 21, 2024, surrounded by her family in the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.
Born on April 22, 1931, in Lakeview, OH the daughter of Jonas Andrew and Emma Leota (Hundley) Cook. Alice was a proud graduate of Sandusky High School having received her degree at the age of 90 in 2021. She was a homemaker, but had also worked for many years as a teacher's aide and librarian for the Margaretta Schools. Alice will be remembered by her family for how she loved to cook, play cards and how she always looked forward to spending time with her family, the grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She was a known home body and found great comfort in just staying at home and caring for the stray cats in the neighborhood that would come around.
Alice was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church.
She is survived by her son, John (Linda) Maiani of Perrysburg, her two daughters, Rose (Keith) Ott of Sandusky and Linda (Mike) Keith of Bellevue; ; a daughter-in-law, Anna Maiani of Sandusky; her twelve grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Doris Sheldon of Alger, OH; and many nieces and nephews.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 55 years, John D. Maiani; a son, David J. Maiani, Sr.; and her brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be held on Thursday morning, June 27, 2024, from 8:30 am until 9:30 am at the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 am at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 428 Tiffin Avenue, Sandusky. A private burial will take place at Kelleys Island Cemetery, Kelleys Island, OH.
The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Stein Hospice Services, Inc., 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870.
