William Harry Greb

March 10, 1936 ~ January 30, 2018 (age 81)

   William H. "Bill" Greb, 81, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully early Tuesday evening,  January 30, 2018, at the Parkvue Health Care Center, Sandusky, after a lengthy illness.
   Born on March 10, 1936, in Pittsburgh, PA,  the son of Franz Xavier and Ceceilia Clementine (Fritz) Greb.  He was a member of the first graduating class from St. Canice High School where he was known as a great debator and later went on to the Carnegie Institute of Technology, on a full  scholarship, and graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Physics.  Bill had served in the U.S. Army Reserves having reached the rank of First Lieutenant.  When he came to Sandusky, he had worked for many years as a electrical engineer at New Departure-Hyatt (a Division of General Motors), before retiring.
   For years, he had taught at Sandusky High School the Adult Evening Classes in electronics.  He will be remembered by his family and friends for his love of running, especially in marathons and a variety of road races, over the years,  as a member of the Firelands Running Club.  Bill also loved listening to classical music and traveling to San Marino, Italy with his former wife.  He was also a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
   Bill is survived by a brother, Francis J. (Elaine) Greb of Deerfield, IL; three nephews, Steve (Theresa) Greb of Lexington, KY, Eric (Teri) Greb of Missoula, MT and Gordon (Karen) Greb of Huntley, IL; and friends, Paul (Paula) Roth of Sandusky; and several great nieces and nephews.
   He was preceded in death by his parents; and his former wife, Alfa P. (Palmucci) Greb.
   At his request, no visitation will be held.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Bill on Friday morning, February 2, 2018, at 10 am, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.  Fr. Joe Steinbauer officiating.   Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, in Huron.
   The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Stein Hospice Service, Inc., 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870 or to the Alzheimer's Association, Northwest Chapter, 2500 N. Reynolds Road, Toledo, OH 43615-2820.
