Shannon J. McNally, 52, of Sandusky, passed away late Wednesday evening, July 25, 2018, at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, Sandusky, after a brief illness.
Born on August 14, 1965, in Sandusky, OH the son of Thomas James and Cheryl Kay (Meggitt) McNally. He was a 1985 graduate of Sandusky High School. Shannon was a veteran, having served honorably in the U.S. Navy. Over the years, he had worked as a mason for different masonry companies in the local area. He loved all sports, but he especially followed the teams at the University of Notre Dame. Shannon was a life member of the AMVETS Post #17.
He is survived by a daughter, Ashley Wick; two sons, Mason and Matthew McNally; two granddaughters, Sophia and Gwendlyn; his mother, Cheryl K. (Don Ohlemacher) McNally-Meyers of Sandusky; a sister, Cari A. (Tony) Voegeli of Ft. Wayne, IN; a niece, Casey; and a nephew, Chadwyck.
Shannon was preceded in death by his father, Thomas J. McNally (2005); paternal grandparents, John and Marjorie Serwin; his maternal grandparents, Denzil and Elsie Gorby; and his maternal grandfather, Franklin Meggitt.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 30, 2018, from 11 am until time of the funeral services at 1 pm at the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Deacon Phil Dinovo officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Color Guard Post # 83. Following the services it was his wish to be cremated. Interment will take place at a later date in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
