Ronald R.Hastings, 78, of Castalia, passed away peacefully early Monday evening, March 26,2018, surrounded by his family at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, Sandusky, after a brief illness.
Born on May 4, 1939, in Sandusky, OH the son of Boyer Robert and Sarah (Beier) Hastings. Ron had worked as a machinist at the General Motors Power Train Plant, in Toledo, OH, for nearly 25 years, retiring in 2002. He loved working on cars and had just recently built a 1965 Mustang. Ron enjoyed working outdoors and tinkering on any thing mechanical, he just needed to stay busy.
He was a member of St.Mary's Catholic Church, the American Legion Post # 83 and the Huron Eagles AERIE # 2875.
Ron is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Joyce A. (Lund) Hastings; two daughters, Debra (Ronald) Huston of Bellevue and Michelle (Dan) Keegan of Castalia; four grandchildren, Zachary (Alissa) and Zane (Alysa) Huston, Cody (Nancy) Keegan and Cayla Keegan; three great-grandchildren, Tyrus, Collins and Myrella; two sisters, Dona Martin and Shirley Griffith, both of Sandusky; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Patricia Stratton.
It was his wish to be cremated and the funeral services to be private. Interment will be held at a later date in Sand Hill Cemetery, Castalia, OH
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in his memory to Stein Hospice Service, Inc., 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870 or to St.Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Avenue, Sandusky, OH 44870.
