Robert Higgins Obituary

Robert J. Higgins, 68, of Sandusky, passed away early Saturday morning, January 20, 2018, in the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Born on June 17, 1949, in Sandusky, the son of Lamont Clifford and Betty Katherine (Sprigg) Higgins.  He was a 1967 graduate of Sandusky High School.  Robert was a veteran, having served honorably in the U. S. Marine Corp. during the Vietnam War.  After the military, he had worked in retail management and later became a commercial fisherman, before retiring.  He enjoyed music and being outdoors, but he especially loved being with his family.
Robert is survived by his wife of 40 years, Jeri L. (Elder) Higgins; a son, Casey "Mack" Higgins; two daughters, Kelley Ann Higgins and Andrea Wagner; four sisters, Virginia Higgins, Geraldine Higgins, Margaret (Brad) Huntley and Susanne (Ted) Winebarger; and four brothers, Daniel (Patty) Higgins, James (Paulette) Higgins, Thomas (Doris) Higgins and William Higgins; and a sister-in-law, Bette Lou Higgins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Patricia Ann Higgins; and two brothers, Michael and Richard Higgins.
It was his wish to be cremated.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.
The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Stein Hospice Service, Inc., 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870 or to Cancer Services of Erie County, 505, E. Perkins Avenue, Sandusky, OH 44870.
Arrangements are entrusted to the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.
