Richard C. "Dick" Volz, 94, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully early Saturday morning, October 13, 2018, in the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.
Born on September 1, 1924, in Sandusky, OH the son of Frank Norbert and Fredalena Rosalie (Erne) Volz.   Dick had grown up on Kelleys Island and later graduated from Sandusky High School in 1942.  He was a veteran, having served honorably in the U.S. Navy, as a gunner mate, during W.W. II alongside his twin brother, Bob. They were involved in the Liberation of the Philippines.  In his earlier days, he enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, golfing, just watching nature and playing baseball.  Actually, when playing for the Soldiers and Sailors Home baseball team, with Dick, playing second base, and his brother Bob, playing shortstop, they were known as "The Best" double play combination in the State of Ohio. Obviously, he was an avid sports fan and over the years he enjoyed spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren in sporting events and other activities.
Dick had worked at the Apex Company for awhile and later went on to work at the Scott Paper Company for nearly 30 years, retiring in 1982.  He will be remembered for never missing a single day of work.
Dick was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society and a life member of the V.F.W. Post # 2529.
Survived by;  two daughters, Martha "Marti" (Daniel) Bragg of Bowling Green and Donna M. McGory of Sandusky; a son, Jeffery (Patty) Volz of Huron; seven grandchildren, Daniel, Matthew (Jeannette), Andrew (Samantha), Kevin (Kaitlin), Eric, Lauren and Emily; a great-granddaughter; Tillie; his twin-brother, Bob (Barb) Volz of Sandusky; and many special nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marion A. (Balduff) Volz (1982); a son, Richard J. "Rick" Volz (2002); a sister, Connie Feydelem; and a brother, James F. Volz (1997).
