Ralph Gardiner Dunn

Ralph G. Dunn, 92, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully late Thursday morning, April 5, 2018, surrounded by his family at The Meadows of Osborn Park, Huron, after a brief illness.
   Born on March 10,1926, in Toledo, OH the son of Leslie Robert and Catherine Laura (Bower) Dunn. In his earlier days, Ralph had lived in Fremont,Ohio. He was a veteran, having served honorably in the U.S.Navy during W.W.II with the Atlantic Fleet in the Destroyer Escort Group.  Ralph was a life long truck driver having driven for P. T. I. and later for Russell Trucking, in Sandusky, retiring in 1980.  After retiring, he had worked for the Sandusky City Schools from 1980-1986 at the high school in the maintenance department and also at the Cedar Point Amusement Park as a boiler operator.  Ralph, for several years, with his wife, Donna, had owned and operated, Dunn-Rite Laundromat.   In years past, Ralph had been an avid golfer and bowler in the local area leagues. 
  He was a life member of the Destroyer Escort Sailors Association, a member of the Masonic Lotus Lodge, in Toledo, OH for over 50 years and a life member of the NRA.
  Ralph is survived by his children, Michael K. Dunn of Santa Barbara,CA, Linda (Ken "Mac") McNutt, of Stuart, FL, Rex G. (Linda) Dunn, Matthew (Vicky) Dunn and Mark (Angela) Dunn, all of Sandusky; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
   He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 61 years, Donna L. (Olson) Dunn (on September 29, 2006), whom he married on May 9,1945; a grandson, Officer Andrew S. Dunn on March 19, 2011; two sisters, Mildred Stahl-Page and Roberta L. Kroeger; and a brother, William L. Dunn.
   It was his wish to be cremated. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.   Inurnment will be in the Calvary Cemetery Columbarium, Sandusky.
   The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Stein Hospice Service, Inc.,1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870.
