Michael 'Mike" John Gast

Michael J. "Mike" Gast, 63, of Sandusky, formerly of Brunswick, passed away early Tuesday morning, October 22, 2019, at his home from natural causes.
   Born on July 4, 1956, in Sandusky, the son of John Ernest and Patricia Ann (Moore) Gast.  He was a 1974 graduate of Perkins High School and later graduated from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor Degree in Accounting.
   Mike had worked for over 20 years as an accountant in the Steel Industry.  He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and watching wildlife and had, over the years, visited several of the National Parks around the country.  Mike loved listening to music, especially the classics sounds of the 60's and the 70's.  He was also a fan of the Cleveland Indians.
   Mike was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and had been active with a local bird watching group at Osborn Park, in Huron.
   He is survived by his daughter, Kirsten (Joe) Bennett of Medina; his mother, Patricia "Pat" Gast of Sandusky; a sister, Sheri Gast-Graham of Avon; a brother, Rick (Barb) Gast of Castalia; and nieces and a nephew.
   Mike was preceded in death by his father, John E. Gast (July 7, 2018).
   It was Mike's wishes to be cremated.  His family will receive friends on Friday morning, November 1, 2019, from 10 am until time of the memorial service at 11 am at the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.  Rev. Dr. Eric L. Bodenstab of Zion Lutheran Church officiating.
