Mary Lou (Gruber) Wuertz, 82, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully early Thursday morning, October 10, 2019, surrounded by her loving family in the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.
Born on August 28, 1937, in Sandusky, OH the daughter of Michael and Verna (Ritzenthaler) Gruber. Mary Lou was a graduate of St. Mary's High School and a caring homemaker. Over the years, she enjoyed playing Bingo and loved spending time with her companion and buddy, her dog, "Casey."
She was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church and a life member of the AMVETS Post #17 Ladies Auxiliary.
Mary Lou is survived by her son, L. Michael (Sally Hill) Wuertz of Marblehead; and a daughter, Vicki McCarley of Pinellas Park, FL: four granddaughters, Amanda (Justin)
Rohrbacher, Nicole (Michael) Ohlemacher, Sarah Trautman and Brittnay (Brandon) Spring; a grandson, Michael Anthony McCarley; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 57 years, LeLand J. "Lee" Wuertz, Jr. on February 11, 2016; a daughter, Linda Trautman; four sisters, Rita Meredith, Catherine (brother-in-law, Don) Milliman, Jean (brother-in-law, Henry) Whaley and Marjory Pasqualini; and two brothers, Robert and Warren Gruber. At her request, no visitation will be held, and cremation has taken place. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday morning, October 16, 2019, at 10 am at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 428 Tiffin Avenue, Sandusky. Fr. Monte Hoyles officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Holy Angels Catholic Church, 428 Tiffin Avenue, Sandusky, OH 44870; the Humane Society of Erie County, 1911 Superior Street, Sandusky, OH 44870 or to Stein Hospice Service, inc., 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870.
