Margaret A. "Peggy" Yost, 80, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully late Tuesday evening, June 12, 2018, with family at her side in the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Born on April 21, 1938, in Sandusky, the daughter of William Rector and Alice Jean (Cooper) Stout. She was a 1956 graduate of Huron High School. For many years, Peggy had worked at the Providence Care Center and later went on to retire from the Wisteria Hill Farm Bakery, where she had worked for over 10 years.
You could consider her the Head of Block Watch on her street, as she kept a constant eye on the doings and the activities in the neighborhood. She was constantly watching the birds, the squirrels and the neighborhood kids running around, as well as, the comings and goings of others on the street. Peggy loved to read and she enjoyed working with crafts, especially cross stitching, crocheting, ceramics and other arts.
She is survived by five daughters, Merry L. (Doug) Hildebrand of Milan, Marjorie A. (Duane) Albert of Sandusky, Brenda J. (Christopher) Howell of Sandusky, Kristine L. Yost of Sandusky and Catherine M. (Jason Johnson) Yost of Vickery; 10 grandchildren, Melissa, Duane "Scott", Eric, Kimberly, Elizabeth, Zachary, Erin, Mackenzie, Blayde and Jaeger; and 11 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Judi Haas of Findlay, Sue Sanders of Castalia and Barb (Jack Engelman) Wiley of Sandusky; several nieces and nephews; her faithful companion, her dog, "Rusty;" her good neighbors, Charlie and Kathy Bango of Sandusky; and her special care giver, Amy Will.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, David L. Yost, whom she married on March 14, 1959 and passed away on February 23, 1982; two sisters, Nancy Faulhaber and Penny Stein; a brother, William "Bill" Stout; and three brothers-in-law, David Haas, Wayne Sanders and Mike Wiley.
It was her wish to be cremated. The family will receive friends on Saturday morning, June 16, 2018, from 10:30 am until time of the memorial service at 12 pm at Faith Memorial Church, 1320 E. Strub Road, Sandusky. Rev. Kenneth L. Hiser officiating. Interment will be held in the Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
