Loren J. "Buddy" Gosser, Jr. 77, of Sandusky, who passed away unexpectedly early Saturday morning, February 10, 2018, at his home.
Born on February 17, 1940, in Sandusky, the son of Loren Joseph and Alice Blanche (McMillen) Gosser, Sr.. He was a 1960 graduate of Sandusky High School. Loren had served honorably in the Ohio Army National Guard during the 1960's. He had worked at New Departure-Hyatt Inc. (Division of General Motors) for over 20 years, retiring in 1993. He enjoyed wood carving and all types of sports, but he especially loved going to the many family gatherings over the years.
Loren was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, where he had been a Eucharistic Minister and taught religion classes to sixth graders, a member of the U.A.W. Local #913 (a former Trustee), the Knights of Columbus Council #546 (past Grand Knight), the Fourth Degree Bishop Machebeuf General Assembly # 813, the American Legion Post #83 and the Sandusky Eagles AERIE #444.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dorothy Ann (Riedy) Gosser, whom he married on June 26, 1965; three sons, Loren "Babe" (Michele) Gosser, III of Bellevue, Chris (Susan) Gosser of Castalia and Joey Gosser, Sr. of Memphis, TN; six grandchildren, Ashlee, Amber, Kevin (Taylor), Brian, Joseph, Jr. and Allie; a daughter-in-law, Christine (Brett) Miller of Huron; sister-in-laws, Agnes M. Gosser and Donna Jean Blakely; brother-in-laws, Robert and Ronald Riedy; and many nieces and nephews.
Loren was preceded in death by a son, Tom Gosser (2013); his parents; a sister, Ruth Ann Gosser; a brother, Jim Gosser; and a brother-in-law, Dan Riedy.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 25, 2018, from 3-7 pm at the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Prayers will be recited Monday morning, February 26, 2018, at 9:30 am at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 428 Tiffin Avenue, Sandusky. Fr. Jeff Walker officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky. Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #83 Color Guard.
