June Downs, 92, of Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly early Monday morning, November 20, 2017, at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, Sandusky.
   Born on June 25, 1925, in Elkhart, IN, the daughter of John and Bernice (Harrigan) Zahos.  June had worked, over the years,  at Apex Manufacturing and later at Memorial Hospital in Sandusky.  In years past, she enjoyed doing needle point. She will be remembered for volunteering at the Ohio Veterans Home for nearly 20 years.
   June is a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the American Legion Post # 83 Ladies Auxiliary (and Past President) and the Forty and Eight.
   She is survived by a son, Thomas E. (Elaine) Rife of Junction City, OR; a daughter, Michelle B. Zelina of Parma Heights, OH; her step-children, David G. (Kathy) Downs, Dianne I. McGee, Doug C. Downs all of Sandusky, Dana A. (Theresa) Downs of Kalamazoo, MI, and Jeff J. (Valerie) Downs of Sandusky; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
   June was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 21 years, Denzel D. Downs on August 26, 1995; a granddaughter and a great-granddaughter; and a brother, George Zahos.
   Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 26, 2017, from 3-6 pm at the David F. Koch Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.  Prayers will be recited Monday morning, November 27, 2017, at 9:30 am at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Avenue, Sandusky.  Fr. Matt Frisbee officiating.  Burial will be in Perkins Cemetery, Sandusky.
   The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in her memory to one's favorite charity.
