James Louis Balconi, 62, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully early Monday morning, May 6, 2019, at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, with his daughter by his side.
He was born on May 10, 1956, in Sandusky, the son of Louis James and Donna Leota (Ballard) Balconi. James was a 1975 graduate of Sandusky High School and later graduated from the Art Institute of Atlanta in 1979. He worked with his father for many years at A. J. Balconi and Sons before going to work for himself. He was a very talented artist and painter doing business as Balconi Custom Painting. You can also still see some of his talented work on the carousels and signs at Cedar Point Amusement Park, in which he was very proud of.
James is survived by his daughter, Lisa (Michael) LaMarca of Monroeville; his two grandsons, Ryan James and Collin Thomas; his granddaughter, Alexcia Nicole; three sisters, Diane (James) Binting of Huron, Lynn (James) LaBate of Fort Lauderdale, FL and Nancy (Patrick) Meaker of New Port Richey, FL; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
It was his wishes to be cremated. His daughter would like to invite his family and friends to a "Celebration of Life" to be held at her home this Saturday afternoon, May 11, 2019, from 1-3 pm, at 9806 State Route 99 N, Monroeville.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in his memory to Stein Hospice Service, Inc., 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870.
Arrangements are entrusted to the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.
