Henrietta Alma (Ging) Smith

Henrietta A. "Etta" (Ging) Smith, who lived a long and fulfilling life, passed away peacefully early Monday afternoon, January 13, 2020, at the remarkable age of 102 surrounded by her loving family at her home.
   Etta was born on October 18, 1917, in Ogdensburg, NY the daughter of Charles G. and May (Bouchard) Ging.  She was a 1935 graduate of St. Mary's High School.  Etta retired in 1974 after 37 years as a licensed beautician in Sandusky.  Over the years, Etta enjoyed bowling, was an avid card player and enjoyed watching the Cleveland Indians.   She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church where she had volunteered for many years for a variety of church activities.
   Etta is survived by her four children, Charles William (Darlene Brady) Smith of Strongsville, Thomas Francis (Geralyn Cole) Smith of Norwalk, Anne Marie Summers of Sandusky, and Edward Timothy Smith of Sandusky; five grandchildren, Charles (Kim) Smith, Mary (Pete) Daniel, Brian (Kriste) Smith, Julie Fidler, and R.C. (Missy) Summers; eleven great-grandchildren, Ben Smith, Alec Smith, Tyler Stewart, Darcy Daniel, Dane Smith, Jacob Smith, DeAnna Smith, Gina Smith, Alana Fidler, Joey Smith, and Kaylee Summers; three great-great-granddaughters, Clara Smith, Evie Smith, and Ellie Smith; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and special relatives, Bill and Sandy Smith.
   In addition to her parents, Etta was preceded in death by her husband, Chalres M. Smith (1973); two sisters, Gloria A. Ging and Ellie Schnurr; her maternal grandparents, Alexander and Grace Bouchard; and her paternal grandparents, Albert and Katherine Ging.
   Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2020, from 4-7 pm at the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.  Prayers will be recited Friday morning, January 17, 2020, at 9:30 am at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Avenue, Sandusky.  Fr. Jeff Walker officiating.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.
