Helen L (Ryan) Nagel

Early in the evening of July 13th, 2018 at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Helen Nagel’s spiritual soul left her body to return to its Creator.
Helen entered this world on August 8, 1926, as the daughter of Emmett L and Lena (Kosal) Ryan.  
Helen graduated from St. Mary’s High School in the class of 1945. Helen had Scarlet Fever while in school; it had held her back a year. Helen had the skill of rapidly totally numbers from data by a manual calculator called a Comptometer. Helen used the Comptometer at Periodical Publishers and at New Departure’s accounting department. 
Helen and Carl wed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on October 12, 1957. They celebrated  their  60th Wedding Anniversary in 2017. 
Helen and Carl have three children: Theresa C. (Cal) Stanley of Tucson, Carla M. (deceased), and Carl Jr. (Sandusky). 
Helen was an avid Bingo player at Holy Angels, American Legion, Elks, and St. Mary’s. She also volunteered at St. Mary’s  Elementary School Library, Thanksgiving Dinners by Zion Lutheran and Holy Angels Churches, and at Holy Angels bingo. 
Helen received devoted care during her 2 ½ year residency at Providence Care Center from the numerous LPN nurses, nurses’ aides, and the kindhearted “food seasoners” for Helen’s meals. Also, the medical supervision by Stein Hospice Services from Dr. Larry Robinson, D. O., and its companionate nurses. 
Helen is survived by her husband, Carl Sr.; children Theresa  and Carl Jr.; eight grandchildren (C.J., Anthony, Joseph, Gregory, Allison, Alec, William, Anthony) and four great-grandchildren (Clara, Nikye, Nico, Sierra).
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, siblings (Lawrence, Donald, Arvilla, Ruth,  James (Bobby), and Thomas; and her daughter Carla in 2003. 
Visitation will be held on Wednesday,  July 18, 2018, from 4 – 7 p.m. at the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Prayers will be recited Thursday morning, July 19, 2018, at 9:30 am at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 428 Tiffin Avenue, Sandusky.  Fr. Matt Frisbee officiating.  Entombment will be in the Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum, Sandusky.
