Helen Naomi (Richter) Bartell

 Helen N. Bartell, 87, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning, December 26, 2017, surrounded by her family in the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, after a brief illness.
   Born on March 26, 1930, in Sandusky, OH the daughter of Carl and Emelie (Barteldt) Richter.  Helen was a graduate of Sandusky High School.  She had worked for many years at Memorial Hospital and later at Firelands Hospital, before retiring.
   Helen found total enjoyment in tending to her bird feeder and gazing out of her kitchen window, as she took great pride in being able to identify all types of birds that would visit.  But she truly found pleasure in going out fishing with her son , Tom, and spending time with her family, especially her grandson, Matthew, and attending the variety of events and activities he was involved with while at Edison High School and later at Ohio University.  Helen appreciated the opportunity in attending a variety of community events, especially musicals, with her nephew and niece, David and Carol Scroggy, over the years.
   She is survived by her daughter, Darlene Ann (Bob) Fujita of Huron and their son, Matthew; and two sons, Thomas David "Tom" Bartell of Sandusky and James Carl "Jim" (Melissa) Bartell of St. George, UT and their children, Brooke, Brandy, Katie and West; and other relatives.
   Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 62 years, Herman L. "Bart" Bartell, who passed away on July 27, 2012; and a sister, Ruth Scroggy.
   At her request there will be no visitation or funeral services.  It was her wish to be cremated.
   The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 2211 Mills Street, Sandusky, OH 44870; Stein Hospice Service, Inc., 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870 or to the Edison Music Boosters, 2603 State Rte. 113 E., Milan, OH 44846.
