Evelyn Mae (Glime) Kammer, 92, of Sandusky, passed away early Friday evening, February 9, 2018, at The Meadows of Osborn Park, in Huron.
Born on August 24, 1925, in Berlin Heights, OH the daughter of Henry Dietrich and Annabelle (Capen) Glime.
Early in her life, she had the pleasure of meeting Kaye Ballard (a musical and television actress) and singing a song on stage with her. During World War II, she worked as a riveter, assembling parts for the B29 bombers. Later in life she helped her husband, Richard, whom she married on June 2, 1945 and enjoyed 53 years of marriage together, with the family business, Kam-Air. Evelyn was the kind of person who would always help a person in need. She loved her children and grandchildren dearly. Evelyn enjoyed family time, cook outs, baking, boating and dancing with her husband.
She is survived by her children, Scott and Judy (Gerding) Kammer of Rittman, Lynn Darlene (Ronald) Bailey of Norwalk, Keith Kammer of Sandusky, Kevin and Cynthia (Smith) Kammer of Liberty Township, Karen Wood of Sandusky and Mark and Linda (Wiegel) Kammer of Sandusky; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Sylvia (Ott) Kammer of Sandusky.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Richard J. Kammer, Sr.; her father, Henry D. Glime; her mother, Annabelle (Capen) Gens; her step-father, Thomas Gens; a son, Richard J. Kammer, Jr.; a grandson, Arthur Keller; and a brother, Roy Glime Barrett.
She will be missed by many. At her request, private family funeral services are to be held. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
