Eva Lee (Patton) Higgins

 Eva Lee (Patton) Higgins, 95, of Sandusky, passed away early Sunday morning, June 16, 2019, at Firleands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, Sandusky.
   Born on November 23, 1923 in Maytown, KY the daughter of Henry and Laura (Warrens) Patton.  She was a 1941 graduate of Maytown High School.  In Eva's early twenties, she enjoyed going out dancing and roller skating with her friends. At this time, she had worked at the Goose Creek Company Store.  In 1942 - 1944, she lived in Laport, IN, where she had worked for Allis Chalmers, a manufacturer of machinery for the war.  Throughout the years, she enjoyed being out and about, making the rounds and visiting the locals clubs and socializing with her many friends.  She also had volunteered for over 20 years, as a precinct worker for the Election Board at Viewpoint.  Eva will also be remembered by her sons how she loved tending to her garden in the backyard. 
   She was a former member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post # 2529 and also had been a past co-chairman of the annual Mother's March for the March of Dimes
   On September 11, 1953, she married John Arthur Higgins and they were blessed with two sons.
   Eva is survived by her sons,Timothy J. Higgins, Sr. and  David A. Higgins both of Sandusky; a grandson,  Timothy J. Higgins, Jr. of Fremont; a brother, Orville (Deb) Patton of Sandusky; and nieces and nephews.
   She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 46 years, John A. "Jack" Higgins on December 22, 2000; a sister, Georgia Lee Childers; and two brothers, Arnold and Ottis Patton.
   Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2019, from 3-7 pm at the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.  Funeral services will be held Thursday morning, June 20, 2019, at 11 am at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky, OH.
   The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her name to Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, 1111 Hayes Avenue, Sandusky, OH 44870.
