Edward Vincent Schlicht M.D.

Edward Vincent Schlicht, M.D., 90, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully early Thursday morning, June 6, 2019, at his home with his family by his side.
   Born on December 21, 1928, in Bellevue, OH the son of Edward and Marian (Mitchell) Schlicht.  Vince graduated from Bellevue High School, Ohio Weslyan University and the Ohio State University School of Medicine.  He had served honorably in the U.S. Navy for 2 years.  Vince then practiced General Medicine in Sandusky, OH.  He also served as the Medical Director of the Ohio Veterans Home, in Sandusky.
   E. Vincent Schlicht, called Vince by those who knew him best was a committed Family Physician in his practice and the continuous study of medicine.  He devoted his time tirelessly to his patients.  His lifelong learning was driven by an insatiable intellectual curiosity.  Vince's interests were many and varied.  He made it his quest to personally understand himself and therefore to better understand those around him.  Vince treated everyone with warmth, empathy and kindness.  He was humble, and shunned attention and admiration.  Vince was quick witted and extremely funny to those who were privileged to know him well. Vince loved living and practicing medicine in the city of Sandusky, Ohio.
   He was a member of the American Medical Directors Association and an honorary member of Firelands Community Hospital.  Vince was also a member of the Huron Yacht Club, Plum Brook Country Club and the AMVETS Post # 17.
   Vince is survived by his wife of 30 years, Celeste (Brown) Schlicht; daughters, Sandra Schlicht and Suzan (Tom) Woods; a son, Steve Schlicht; grandsons, Bob and Steve (Jenny) Wiechel; stepchildren, Robert (Shannon) Guss, Jr., Connie (Dennis) Link, Cheryl (James) Crooks; step-grandchildren, Aaron (Kelli) Link, Michael (Eliza) Link, Kayla (Tim) Dorsey, Alyssa (Brent) Shimman, Francesca and Courtney Crooks; a sister, Ann (John) Millott; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
   He was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant sister.
   It was his wishes to be cremated.  At the request of the family funeral services will be private. 
   The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, 1111 Hayes Avenue, Sandusky, OH 44870 or to one's favorite charity.
   Arrangements are entrusted to the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.
