Donald Sylvan Ehrnsberger

Donald S. "Big D" Ehrnsberger, 86, of Sandusky, passed away late Wednesday evening, February 6, 2019, at Admiral's Pointe Nursing and Rehabiliatation Center, in Huron, OH.
   Born on May 2, 1932, in Sandusky, the son of William and Louella (Lawrence) Ehrnsberger.  He attended St. Mary's Catholic School.  Don had worked as a foreman at the Scott Paper Company for 32 years and later went on to work at the Fannie Farmer Candy Company, in Norwalk, for 10 years, before retiring.
   He enjoyed his music, especially the Big Band sounds of the 1940's and he loved nature, he found comfort in just taking the time to sit outside and enjoy the outdoors whenever he could.  Don also loved to golf, especially with his son-in-law and his grandson and he loved his dogs, but he especially loved his wife's cooking.
   He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and had bowled for a number of years in the Sandusky Leagues.
   Don is survived by his daughter, Beverly J. (Dennis) Faber of Sandusky; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Derek) Guerra, Shelley (John) Tobin, Joshua (Kristin) Wahl and Jacob Wahl; seven great-grandchildren, Reid Guerra, Faith, Olivia and Jack Tobin, Colin and Madisyn Wahl and Chloe Wahl; a sister, Rennie Funni of Sandusky; a sister-in-law, Judy Ehrnsberger; and numerous nieces and nephews.
   He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 69 years, Ruth E. (Hunker) Ehrnsberger (October 25, 2018); a daughter and son-in-law, Susan (James) Wahl; four brothers, William "Sonny", Bob, Earl and Dick Ehrnsberger; and three sisters, Georgianna Wieber, Gerry Hoelzer and June Neese.
   Visitation will be from 9 am Saturday morning, February 16, 2019, until a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.  Fr. Monty Hoyles officiating.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.  Following the services a luncheon will be held in the Commons area at St. Mary's Catholic Church.
   In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Humane Society of Erie County, 1911 Superior Street., Sandusky, OH 44870.
