Constance Anna (Frey) Hartlaub

Constance A. "Connie" Hartlaub, 92, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully early Thursday morning, January 11, 2018, in Commons of Providence Memory Care Center, Sandusky.
   Born on May 17, 1925, in Sandusky, OH the daughter of Burnell John and Anna E. (Puckrin) Frey.  She was a 1943 graduate of St. Mary's High School.   Connie had taught piano lessons for many years and, over the years, had played in bands and at one time had her own band, the "Dreamers."    For nearly 30 years, she was the Residence Director at Providence School of Nursing and at Firelands School of Nursing.  She loved to travel, go shopping, play bingo and was an avid reader.
   Connie was a member of First Faith Community Church, a life member of the AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary Post # 17 ( a former officer) and a life member of the Musician Union ( past State Secretary)
   She is survived by two daughters, Mary Young of Port Clinton and Cindy (Kevin) Keiser of Sandusky; two sons, Ray Hartlaub and Dale (Charlotte "Gidget") Hartlaub, both of Sandusky; seven grandchildren,  10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. 
   Connie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 57 years, George R. Hartlaub, Jr. (January 1, 2004); her son, David Hartlaub; and a great-grandson, Garrett Blevins.
   Visitation will be held on Monday morning, January 15, 2018, from 9 am until time of the "Celebration of  Life" service at 11 am at the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.  Rev. John W. Apple officiating.  Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
   In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to the First Faith Community Church, 225 E. Jefferson Street, Sandusky, OH  44870; the Stein Hospice Service, Inc., 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870  or to the Humane Society of Erie County, 1911 Superior Street, Sandusky, OH 44870.
