  Billie Jean Cody, 83, of Sandusky, passed away early Wednesday evening, December 27, 2017, at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, Sandusky, after a brief illness.
   Born on September 23, 1934, in Sunshine, Kentucky, the daughter of Poly Monroe and Ethel (Jones) Bennett.  For many years she had worked at the Ohio Veterans Home and later in Home Health Care.  Billie Jean enjoyed spending time with her family and her her grandchildren and cooking, reading, gardening, watching television, listening to music, but she especially loved going out to eat.  For over 60 years, she was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy.
  She is survived by her four daughters, Catherine "Cathy" Cody-Wilson, Debra (Jim) Ernst, Jennifer Cody and Robin Cody; and two sons, Jeff and Ed Cody all of Sandusky; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Wanda Sue Gundlach, Barbara (Bill) Gray and Martha Perdue; three brothers, Kenneth (Linda) Bennett, Allen and Darrell Bennett; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Ken Morelli and Denise and Lavette Shartzer.
   Billie Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 60 years, James C. "Jay" Cody (April 28, 2011); a son, J.C. Monroe Cody (December 19, 2002); three granddaughters, Kristen, Angel and Sarah; three sisters, Betty Lou Noe, Beatrice "Bea" Orick and Nellie Mae Burkhart; and two brothers, Chester and Tom Bennett and a half-brother, James Ely.
   Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2018, from 4-7 pm at the David F. Koch Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.  Funeral Services will be held Thursday morning, January 4, 2018, at 11 am at the funeral home.  Rev. Jeff A. Baker officiating.  Burial will be in Sand Hill Cemetery, Sandusky.
   The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Church of God of Prophecy, 3311 Bardshar Road, Sandusky, OH 44870.
