Jeffrey Fantozzi Obituary

Jeff “Putzy” Fantozzi, 58, of Sandusky, passed away  early Sunday morning, March 3, 2024, surrounded by his family at the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.

Jeff was born on June 5, 1965 in Sandusky, Ohio to Frank “Jerry” Fantozzi and Anna (Mariotti) Fantozzi. He was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School and he attended Terra State Community College and The University of Toledo. Jeff was employed by the City of Huron and Florence Township as a Zoning Inspector.  He had previously been employed by the Erie County Auditor’s Office for many years.

Jeff loved spending time in the kitchen. His favorite tradition was making his famous “rice balls” around the holidays, and cooking other various meals for friends and family. He loved music (especially AC/DC), was an avid concert goer, and spent many years DJing at the Pump on Kelley’s Island. He was a talented artist who enjoyed creating personalized portraits for those he loved.

Jeff’s life was shaped by the admiration he had for his father. Each day he worked to emulate his father’s “give back” approach to life, not only for his family but those in his community as well. Throughout his life he was involved with the Sandusky Kiwanis Club, Knights of Columbus, and the San Marino Community of Sandusky. For many years he was a Strength and Conditioning coach for the Huron HS football team.

Jeff is survived by his mother, Anna Fantozzi; his two sons, Jerry and Jacob Fantozzi; his sister and brother-in-law, Maria and Tygh Tone; his niece and nephew, Morgan and Harrison Tone; and several beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Fantozzi; and his grandparents, Frank and Laura Fantozzi and Felice and Angelina Mariotti.

It was Jeff's wish to be cremated.  A Funeral Liturgy Outside of Mass will be held for Jeff on Friday morning, March 8, 2024, a 10 am at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.  Deacon Jeff Claar officiating.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.

The family would like to thank the staff at Stein Hospice, especially Dawn, Melissa, Michael, and Ross, as well as offer a special thanks to his friends and colleagues at the City of Huron & Florence Township for their support during this time.
