Walter R. "Ray" Thomas, 82, of Sandusky, passed away early Friday evening, April 14, 2017, at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, Sandusky.
   Born on October 1, 1934, in Paulding, OH the son of Walter Stephen and Evelyn Arlene (Durfey) Thomas.  He was a 1954 graduate of Sandusky High School.  Ray had worked at the Sandusky Ford Motor Company for 30 years, retiring in 1993.  For years, he was an avid golfer and in his earlier days he enjoyed bowling.
   He was a life member of the Huron Eagles Club and also had been a member of several other local clubs.
   Ray is survived by his daughter, Raylene T. (Stephen) Thomas-Bayer of Sandusky; and a son, Stephen C. (Deanna Dingees) Thomas of Sandusky; three grandchildren and three great-granddaughters; a brother, Dennis (Pat) Thomas of Sandusky; his companion, Mary H. Frederick of Sandusky; and nieces and nephews.
   He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Shirley M. (Robison) Thomas in 2009.
   Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, from 4-6 pm at the David F. Koch Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning, April 19, 2017, at 10 am at the funeral home.  Rev. Jane-Ann E. Clarke officiating.  Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
   The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to Stein Hospice Service, Inc., 1200 Sycamore Line Sandusky, OH 44870 or to the Humane Society of Erie County, 1911 Superior Street, Sandusky, OH 44870.
